I am an Associate Professor in the Master of Social Work Program at Azusa Pacific University. I spent many years providing psychotherapy as an LCSW in the Chicago area before I felt called to teach and train up and coming clinical social workers. Mindfulness was an intervention that was just coming about during my therapy days and proved very beneficial in the healing process for my clients.
These days, I also conduct trainings in mindfulness, self-care, and burn-out prevention. I have a special concern for individuals and teams who experience burn-out, training folks on how to extend their capacity to care for others so they can continue to thrive. Mindfulness is a huge tool in this kind of progression, and I love to teach it!
